                  Trama

Purple Rain racconta la storia di The Kid, un giovane e talentuoso musicista di Minneapolis che lotta per affermarsi nella scena musicale locale.               Curiosità dal set

  •  Albert Magnoli, il regista, fu scelto all’ultimo momento dopo che il primo sceneggiatore, William Blinn, fu rimosso. Magnoli riscrisse la sceneggiatura in appena una settimana.

  •  Prince insistette per girare a Minneapolis, sua città natale, per mantenere autenticità. Il locale First Avenue, dove fu registrata la versione live di Purple Rain, è ancora oggi un luogo di culto per i fan.

         Plot Summary

Purple Rain tells the story of The Kid, a young and gifted musician from Minneapolis struggling to make his mark in the local music scene. He lives in a troubled household, marked by domestic violence between his parents and a frustrated, abusive father. On stage, The Kid leads the band The Revolution, but behind the scenes, he battles insecurity and emotional conflict.

His rivalry with Morris Day, frontman of the band The Time, intensifies when Apollonia, an ambitious singer, enters the picture—and both men fall for her. Unable to manage his emotions and pain, The Kid risks losing everything: love, his band, and his artistic identity.

    Behind-the-Scenes Trivia

  • Albert Magnoli, the director, was chosen at the last minute after the original screenwriter, William Blinn, was removed. Magnoli rewrote the script in just one week.

  • Prince insisted on filming in his hometown of Minneapolis to preserve authenticity. The venue First Avenue, where the live version of Purple Rain was recorded, remains a pilgrimage site for fans.
