SHATTERSENSE

1. Come è nata la vostra band?

(F) Gli SHATTERSENSE sono nati dall’incontro tra Francesco e Joe, e la loro prima conversazione è stata suonare su un brano di Joe.

2. Quali sono le vostre principali influenze musicali?

(F) Le nostre influenze sono varie, ognuno di noi ne ha molteplici. Credo che vadano dal Rock e Metal a stili più sperimentali. Per quanto mi riguarda, ascolto anche Country. Di certo posso dire che nessuno di noi ama la techno o generi affini.

3. Come descrivereste il vostro stile musicale?
(F) È sempre difficile rispondere a questa domanda... forse Metal Alternative? Mi piacerebbe rivolgere la domanda a chi ascolterà il nostro disco e sentire come lo definiscono loro.

4. Qual è il significato dietro il nome della vostra band?

(F) Shattersense vuole avere un significato introspettivo, come provare a descrivere le proprie emozioni, che spesso risulta impossibile. A volte le emozioni hanno senso per chi le prova, ma non sempre per chi le ascolta. Inoltre, il caso ha voluto che il modo in cui Corey scrive i testi rifletta molto questo concetto.

5. Qual è stata la vostra esperienza più memorabile durante un concerto?

(F) Dato che non viviamo tutti nello stesso continente, il nostro approccio è atipico. Ci siamo concentrati prima sulla realizzazione del prodotto, l’LP, e poi sui live. Suonare dal vivo fa ovviamente parte del piano, ma al momento non abbiamo date programmate. Tuttavia, stiamo seriamente considerando il 2026. In fin dei conti, i live sono la parte più bella di ciò che facciamo.

6. Come nasce una vostra canzone?

(F) Le canzoni le abbiamo composte io e Joe, con l’obiettivo di ottenere una pre-produzione di buona qualità. Dopo l’ingresso di Corey ci sono stati alcuni piccoli cambiamenti, ma in generale siamo noi due che ci dedichiamo alla composizione. Sia Corey che Matt apprezzano molto il materiale che proponiamo, dicendoci che rende il loro lavoro molto più semplice. In fin dei conti, è un sistema che funziona e toglie un sacco di pressione dalla band in generale, soprattutto avendo ruoli ben distinti e reciprocamente rispettati.

7. Come decidete quali canzoni includere in un album?

(F) Diciamo che è una questione di sensazione nel complesso. Ne discutiamo tra di noi e cerchiamo di trovare il miglior compromesso. Finora ci è andata bene perché eravamo tutti della stessa opinione.

8. Avete qualche rituale particolare prima di entrare in studio di registrazione?

(F) Credo sia una cosa che valga per tutti... pratica, pratica, pratica.

9. Cosa possiamo aspettarci dal vostro prossimo album?

(F) Al prossimo album ancora non abbiamo pensato, è ancora un po' presto. Ma posso dirti che abbiamo molte canzoni archiviate e so che Joe sta già buttando giù qualche idea nuova.

10. Avete collaborazioni in programma con altri artisti?

Eh, per ora ti posso solo dire che From The Ground ha una bella sorpresa.

11. Quali sono i vostri obiettivi a lungo termine come band?
(F) Prima di tutto, promuovere questo LP al meglio e speriamo che venga ben recepito.

12. C’è qualche genere musicale che vorreste esplorare in futuro?

(F) Non saprei dirti, in fondo suoniamo ciò che ci diverte ed esalta.

13. Quali sono i vostri piani per il prossimo anno?

(F) Penso che il prossimo anno cercheremo di programmare qualche data.

 Unsensible: un mix di stili fenomenale che rappresenta al meglio la band Modern Metal Shattersense. In questo brano, il gruppo fonde Gothic Metal, Nu Metal e un pizzico di Death Metal svedese, creando una meraviglia sonora supportata dalle impeccabili voci di Corey McLane. La sua versatilità vocale è straordinaria, con una bellezza paragonabile a quella di Amy Lee nella sua fase gotica e una potenza scream che richiama l’intensità e la passione del suo omonimo Taylor.

Corey McLane aggiunge inoltre un tocco di stile alla Chino Moreno, rendendo il tutto magnetico e seducente. Il risultato è un brano che invita a cantare e urlare, spingendo l’ascoltatore ad alzare il volume al massimo. Una novità che farà felici i fan di Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, ma anche degli ultimi In Flames e Deftones, grazie alla miscela unica di generi e alla voce emozionante di McLane.

Unsensible si distingue per la sua originalità e la capacità di coinvolgere, lasciando l’ascoltatore senza fiato e con il desiderio di riascoltarlo ancora. Con questa fusione di stili e un’energia travolgente, gli Shattersense hanno creato qualcosa di speciale, destinato a lasciare il segno nel mondo del metal.

Gli Shattersense si sono formati nel 2012 da Joe Mercante e Francesco Daniele, nella citta’ di La Spezia, Italia.
Joe che era nuovo in citta’, era alla ricerca di un batterista per poter iniziare un nuovo progetto musicale. Joe conobbe Francesco, grazie ad una rubrica di musicisti online. I due si incontrarono per la prima volta in sala prove, e la loro prima vera e propria conversazione fu
una Jam Session su un brano di Joe.

Da quel giorno i due si incontrarono assiduamente per comporre nuovi brani uno dopo l’altro.
Piu avanti si unirono al progetto, Gianluca Roh al basso e Pablo Scarpa alla chitarra e voce.
Questa formazione duro’ all'incirca 2 anni, fino a quando Pablo lascio il progetto e succesivamente Francesco, a causa del suo trasferimento negli Stati Uniti.

Nonostante la distanza Joe e Francesco decisoro comunque di tenere in piedi il progetto lavorando ai vecchi e nuovi brani in remoto.
Con il passare del tempo e tra un concerto ell’altro, Francesco conobbe Corey McLane perche’ condivisero il palco con le reciproche band, in alcuni spettacoli. Poco piu avanti Francesco decise di presentare gli Shattersense a Corey, il quale apprezzo da subito il sound e le composizioni, per poi quindi unirsi al gruppo come cantante. Da questo momento in poi la band acquisi una marcia in piu ed un sound piu definito, grazie alla partiocolarita’ e dinamiche della
voce di Corey. Le canzoni iniziarono a prendere una nuova forma, tanto che i tre decisero di selezionare 8 canzoni e formare quello che sara’ il primo EP, “From The Ground”.

Dopo moltecipli diffolta’ ed ostacoli, la band riusci finalmente ad arrivare al prodotto finito, che viene Mixato e Masterizato da Nicky Bellmore, al Dexters Lab Recording Studio in Milford, Connecticut USA. Studio noto per aver prodotto album di band come: Hatebreed, Dee Snider, Jasta, Insano Vision, Toxic Holocaust, Kindom Of Sorrow, Many Eye ecc...

Nel frattempo si uni alla band Matt Vigeant al basso, che cosi completo’ la formazione.
Il primo singolo “Unsensible” uscira’ in formato video il 18 Aprile 2025 e su tutte le piattaforme digitali il 2 Maggio 2025, con poi il resto dei brani a seguire nei mesi successivi.

1. How was your band formed?  

(F) SHATTERSENSE was born from the meeting between Francesco and Joe, and their first conversation was about playing on one of Joe's tracks.  

2. What are your main musical influences?  

(F) Our influences are varied, and each of us has multiple ones. I believe they range from Rock and Metal to more experimental styles. Personally, I also listen to Country. I can certainly say that none of us like techno or similar genres.  

3. How would you describe your musical style?  

(F) This is always a difficult question to answer... maybe Alternative Metal? I’d love to ask those who listen to our album how they would define it.  

4. What is the meaning behind your band's name?  

(F) Shattersense is meant to have an introspective meaning, like trying to describe one's emotions, which often proves impossible. Sometimes emotions make sense to those who experience them but not necessarily to those who hear them. Additionally, it so happens that Corey’s way of writing lyrics reflects this concept quite well.  

5. What has been your most memorable experience during a concert?  

(F) Since we don’t all live on the same continent, our approach is atypical. We first focused on creating the product, the LP, and then on live performances. Playing live is obviously part of the plan, but at the moment we don’t have any scheduled dates. However, we are seriously considering 2026. After all, live shows are the most beautiful part of what we do.  

6. How does one of your songs come to life?  

(F) The songs were composed by Joe and me, with the goal of achieving a good-quality pre-production. After Corey joined, there were some minor changes, but in general, the composition is handled by the two of us. Both Corey and Matt really appreciate the material we come up with, telling us that it makes their work much easier. In the end, it’s a system that works and relieves a lot of pressure from the band in general, especially by having well-defined roles that are mutually respected.  

7. How do you decide which songs to include in an album?  

(F) It’s mostly a matter of feeling. We discuss it among ourselves and try to find the best compromise. So far, it has worked out well because we were all in agreement.  

8. Do you have any particular rituals before entering the recording studio?  

(F) I think it’s something that applies to everyone... practice, practice, practice.  

9. What can we expect from your next album?  

(F) We haven’t thought much about the next album yet, it’s still a bit early. But I can tell you that we have a lot of songs archived, and I know that Joe is already sketching out some new ideas.  

10. Do you have any collaborations planned with other artists?  

(F) For now, I can only say that From The Ground has a nice surprise.  

11. What are your long-term goals as a band?  

(F) First and foremost, to promote this LP as best we can, and we hope it will be well received.  

12. Is there any musical genre you would like to explore in the future?  

(F) I wouldn't be able to say... after all, we play what excites and entertains us.  

13. What are your plans for next year?  

(F) I think next year we will try to schedule some dates.

The Shattersense were formed in 2012 by Joe Mercante and Francesco Daniele, in the city of La Spezia, Italy.
Joe, who was new in town, was looking for a drummer to start a new musical project. Joe met Francesco through an online musicians’ directory. The two first met in a rehearsal room, and their first real conversation was a jam session on a song by Joe.
From that day, the two met regularly to compose new songs one after another. Later, Gianluca Roh joined the project on bass and Pablo Scarpa on guitar and vocals.

This lineup lasted about two years, until Pablo left the project and later Francesco, due to his move to the United States.
Despite the distance, Joe and Francesco decided to keep the project alive by working on old and new songs remotely.
As time passed and between various concerts, Francesco met Corey McLane after they shared the stage with their respective bands at some shows. A little later, Francesco decided to introduce Shatterse to Corey, who immediately appreciated the sound and compositions, and then joined the band as the singer. From that moment on, the band gained new momentum and a more defined sound, thanks to the unique qualities and dynamics of Corey’s voice. The songs began to take on a new shape, and the three decided to select 8 songs to form what would become the first EP, “From The Ground.”

After many difficulties and obstacles, the band finally managed to complete the final product, which was mixed and mastered by Nicky Bellmore at Dexters Lab Recording Studio in Milford, Connecticut, USA. The studio is known for having produced albums for bands like Hatebreed, Dee Snider, Jasta, Insano Vision, Toxic Holocaust, Kingdom of Sorrow, Many Eyes, and more.
Meanwhile, Matt Vigeant joined the band on bass, completing the lineup.
The first single, "Unsensible," will be released as a video on April 18, 2025, and on all digital platforms on May 2, 2025, with the remaining tracks to follow in the coming months.
