VIOLAKIRE

1. How was your band formed?

Davide and I met through Villaggio Musicale, and at first we started out as an acoustic duo. Over time a real friendship grew, and that pushed us to experiment with original music. For the release of this single, we collaborated with Andrea Pitonzo on bass, Davide Santini on drums, and Eleonora Meda on backing vocals.

 

2. What is the meaning behind your band name?

My stage name is something I’ve carried with me since my teenage years, and I’m very attached to it. It represents my favourite colour combined with my name written backwards.

 

3. How does one of your songs come to life?

This is the first single released under the name ViolakirE. It was born from a look, from the emotions you feel when you look someone in the eyes. Davide talked to me about the song and suggested I interpret it. I liked it immediately, and I hope to keep going. We already have another track drafted — we’re working on the arrangements, and this time I wrote the lyrics myself. I can’t wait for you to hear it.

 

4. What are your plans for next year?

To make music — and hopefully gift you a full album.

 

5. What do you do in your free time when you’re not working on music?

We each have our homes, families, and personal interests. As for me, I have three children, so I really don’t have much free time — you can imagine. But I still dedicate myself, even just at an amateur level, to my first passion: dance.

“L’importante” (Nomidax – featuring Violakire)

There’s something surprisingly fresh and, at the same time, deeply American in L’importante, the new track by Nomidax, born Davide Nomicisio. An artist who, over the years, has carved out his own personal path, moving through projects like Mauna Loa, where he already showcased his natural guitar skills and his ability to create recognizable sonic landscapes.

I said “American,” and not by chance. It’s that America we learned to love in the late ’80s and early ’90s—the one shaped by bands that knew how to blend introspection with wide-open horizons: R.E.M., Pearl Jam and Buffalo Tom. An imagery made of dusty roads, wide skies, wooden porches with rocking chairs creaking softly as the sun goes down. A positive, relaxed, almost therapeutic America. That’s exactly where Nomidax seems to want to take us with L’importante: a country‑rock piece with alternative shades, capable of being energetic and delicate at the same time.

A distinctive trait of his projects is the choice to collaborate with various Italian female voices—a sort of signature that adds variety and identity to his songs. It’s a choice that works, and in this case finds in Violakire the perfect interpreter: her voice intertwines with Nomidax’s guitars with surprising naturalness, letting every note breathe and amplifying that sense of freedom the track aims to convey.

There remains a curiosity, almost inevitable: hearing Nomidax on vocals. Who knows if it will ever happen. It would be interesting to discover how his musical world would sound filtered directly through his own voice. But perhaps this suspended possibility, this waiting, is part of the project’s charm.

In any case, the “important” thing is that he keeps gifting us those dreamy notes we’ve grown fond of. Because we need music that knows how to make us travel—toward a boundless elsewhere.

Erika Tanfoglio

Raised on the outskirts of Milan, Erika first approached music through dance, taking part in various musicals where she discovered her passion for singing. After years of study, she began performing with cover bands; her dedication pushed her forward and, after several attempts, she finally found the courage and strength to step into the spotlight.

She later collaborated as a backing vocalist in several original‑music projects, meeting the right people who encouraged her to try performing as a solo artist as well. L’Importante is her first single ,  and it will certainly not be the last.
