Cesare Cremonini cambia pelle e inaugura una nuova fase del suo percorso musicale con “Paparazzi”, il primo singolo che anticipa “Amateur”, il nuovo album di inediti atteso per il 23 ottobre 2026.
Il brano sarà disponibile ufficialmente da venerdì 18 settembre 2026, allo scoccare della mezzanotte, e arriva con un’impronta decisamente più ruvida, energica e orientata al rock rispetto alle atmosfere più pop e cantautorali che hanno caratterizzato alcune delle sue produzioni recenti.
“Paparazzi” mette al centro chitarre, batteria, basso e un sound potente, con una produzione dal respiro internazionale e un’attitudine che guarda al garage rock e alla scena alternativa britannica. Cremonini ha scelto proprio questo brano come primo biglietto da visita di Amateur per presentare immediatamente il nuovo approccio sonoro del progetto.
Il brano è stato registrato a Londra, nello Studio 13, lo studio fondato da Damon Albarn, e nasce dall’incontro tra musicisti italiani e una squadra internazionale di grande esperienza. Alla realizzazione partecipano Paul Stacey alle chitarre, Malcolm Catto alla batteria, Tim Lefebvre al basso e Donny McCaslin al sassofono, insieme ad Alessandro Magnanini e Alessandro De Crescenzo.
Questa formazione contribuisce a dare al pezzo un’identità particolarmente ricca, costruita sul rapporto tra strumenti suonati dal vivo, energia e ricerca sonora. È proprio questa dimensione più fisica e istintiva della musica a rappresentare uno degli elementi centrali della nuova fase artistica di Cremonini.
L’artista ha descritto Amateur come un progetto nato dal desiderio di tornare alle origini, recuperando la libertà e la curiosità di quando si iniziava a fare musica senza avere ancora addosso il peso delle aspettative. Una sorta di ritorno alla dimensione dell’esordiente, lasciando momentaneamente da parte l’immagine dell’artista affermato.
Anche per questo “Paparazzi” assume un significato particolare: il titolo richiama il mondo dell’immagine, della celebrità e dello sguardo degli altri, mentre la musica sembra andare nella direzione opposta, cercando maggiore autenticità e immediatezza.
Cremonini ha inoltre sottolineato che il nuovo album è stato scritto, suonato e registrato senza l’utilizzo dell’intelligenza artificiale, puntando invece sul rapporto diretto tra musicisti, strumenti e studio di registrazione.
“Paparazzi” diventa così il primo tassello di un progetto più ampio, nel quale il rock non è soltanto una scelta estetica, ma uno strumento per rimettere al centro l’energia della band, le chitarre e la dimensione umana della registrazione.
Dopo il singolo arriverà quindi “Amateur”, il 23 ottobre 2026, nuovo album di inediti di Cremonini. La nuova fase proseguirà anche dal vivo con AMATOUR, il tour nei palasport che partirà il 24 novembre 2026 da Ancona, con la data zero.
Per Cremonini si apre dunque un nuovo capitolo: più chitarre, più rock e un ritorno alla voglia di sperimentare, con “Paparazzi” chiamato a fare da primo assaggio di quello che sarà il suono di Amateur.

Cremonini Returns to Rock with “Paparazzi”
Cesare Cremonini changes skin and opens a new chapter in his musical journey with “Paparazzi”, the first single previewing “Amateur”, the new album of original material set for release on 23 October 2026.
The track will be officially available from Friday, 18 September 2026, at the stroke of midnight, and arrives with a decidedly rougher, more energetic, rock‑oriented imprint compared to the pop and singer‑songwriter atmospheres that have defined some of his recent work.
“Paparazzi” puts guitars, drums, bass and a powerful sound at the forefront, with an international‑leaning production and an attitude that nods to garage rock and the British alternative scene. Cremonini chose this track as the first calling card for Amateur, aiming to immediately introduce the project’s new sonic direction.
The song was recorded in London at Studio 13, the studio founded by Damon Albarn, and was born from the collaboration between Italian musicians and an experienced international team. The recording features Paul Stacey on guitars, Malcolm Catto on drums, Tim Lefebvre on bass and Donny McCaslin on saxophone, alongside Alessandro Magnanini and Alessandro De Crescenzo.
This lineup helps give the piece a particularly rich identity, built on the interplay between live instruments, energy and sonic exploration. This more physical and instinctive dimension of music is one of the central elements of Cremonini’s new artistic phase.
The artist has described Amateur as a project born from the desire to return to his origins, rediscovering the freedom and curiosity of making music before the weight of expectations existed. A sort of return to the mindset of a beginner, temporarily setting aside the image of the established artist.
For this reason, “Paparazzi” takes on a special meaning: the title evokes the world of image, celebrity and the gaze of others, while the music seems to move in the opposite direction, seeking greater authenticity and immediacy.
Cremonini also emphasized that the new album was written, performed and recorded without the use of artificial intelligence, instead focusing on the direct relationship between musicians, instruments and the recording studio.
“Paparazzi” thus becomes the first building block of a broader project in which rock is not just an aesthetic choice, but a tool to bring the band’s energy, guitars and the human dimension of recording back to the center.
Following the single, Amateur will arrive on 23 October 2026, marking Cremonini’s new album of original material. This new phase will also continue live with AMATOUR, the arena tour kicking off on 24 November 2026 in Ancona, with the zero date.
