Il rock e il metal internazionale accendono Louisville, in Kentucky, dove prende il via oggi, 17 settembre 2026, la dodicesima edizione di Louder Than Life, uno dei principali festival americani dedicati alla musica rock e metal. L’appuntamento proseguirà fino al 20 settembre, con oltre 200 band distribuite su sette palchi all’interno del Kentucky Exposition Center.
La prima giornata porta immediatamente sul palco alcuni dei nomi più importanti della storia del rock pesante. Il grande protagonista della serata è Iron Maiden, atteso come headliner sul Louder Stage, mentre nello stesso giorno sono in programma anche Pantera, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Danzig, Anthrax, Machine Head, Sabaton e Rise Against, in una scaletta che attraversa diverse generazioni di hard rock e metal.
Per gli Iron Maiden l’appuntamento arriva nel pieno della celebrazione dei 50 anni di carriera della band, iniziata nel 1975. Il gruppo porta a Louisville il proprio Run For Your Lives World Tour, un tour costruito attorno alla storia dei primi nove album della formazione britannica e ai brani che hanno contribuito a definire l’heavy metal. La loro esibizione è prevista alle 20:45, con conclusione programmata alle 22:55.
Grande attenzione anche per i Pantera, protagonisti del festival con una presenza particolarmente significativa: secondo il programma ufficiale, quella di Louder Than Life è indicata come l’unica esibizione statunitense della band nel 2026. Il gruppo è atteso sul Life Stage alle 19:30, prima dello show degli Iron Maiden.
Sul palco arriva inoltre Megadeth, con un concerto destinato ad avere un significato particolare per i fan della band: l’appuntamento rientra infatti nel periodo del tour d’addio del gruppo. Dave Mustaine e compagni sono programmati sul Louder Stage alle 18:35, preceduti da Alice Cooper e Anthrax.
Ma Louder Than Life non è soltanto una parata di grandi nomi. La forza del festival sta anche nella quantità e nella varietà degli artisti presenti: dal metal più classico alle sonorità alternative, dal punk all’hard rock contemporaneo, con una programmazione pensata per attraversare diverse generazioni e stili. Tra gli altri appuntamenti della giornata figurano Machine Head, Danzig, Suicidal Tendencies, Metal Church, Skillet, Starset, Jimmy Eat World e Rise Against.
Il festival si presenta quest’anno con quella che gli organizzatori definiscono la line-up più ampia nella storia della manifestazione: quattro giornate, sette palchi e un cartellone che comprende anche TOOL, My Chemical Romance, Limp Bizkit, Gojira, Papa Roach, The Prodigy e molti altri.
La giornata inaugurale di Louisville rappresenta quindi una vera celebrazione del rock su più generazioni: Iron Maiden con la loro storia cinquantennale, Pantera con la potenza del groove metal e Megadeth con il loro capitolo finale si ritrovano nello stesso festival, affiancati da decine di band che raccontano il presente e il futuro della musica pesante.

IRON MAIDEN, PANTERA AND MEGADETH: LOUISVILLE SHAKES TO THE RHYTHM OF ROCK
International rock and metal ignite Louisville, Kentucky, where today — September 17, 2026 — the twelfth edition of Louder Than Life kicks off, one of America’s leading festivals dedicated to rock and metal. The event runs through September 20, featuring more than 200 bands across seven stages inside the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The opening day immediately brings some of the most important names in heavy rock history to the stage. The main star of the night is Iron Maiden, headlining the Louder Stage, while the same day also features Pantera, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Danzig, Anthrax, Machine Head, Sabaton and Rise Against, in a lineup that spans multiple generations of hard rock and metal.
For Iron Maiden, the event arrives in the middle of the band’s celebration of 50 years of career, which began in 1975. The group brings to Louisville their Run For Your Lives World Tour, a tour built around the history of the band’s first nine albums and the songs that helped define heavy metal. Their performance is scheduled for 8:45 PM, with an end time set for 10:55 PM.
Great attention is also on Pantera, who play a particularly significant role at the festival: according to the official program, Louder Than Life is listed as the band’s only U.S. performance in 2026. Pantera are expected on the Life Stage at 7:30 PM, ahead of Iron Maiden’s show.
Also taking the stage are Megadeth, with a concert destined to carry special meaning for fans: the performance falls within the band’s farewell tour. Dave Mustaine and company are scheduled on the Louder Stage at 6:35 PM, preceded by Alice Cooper and Anthrax.
But Louder Than Life is not just a parade of big names. The festival’s strength also lies in the sheer number and variety of artists involved: from classic metal to alternative sounds, from punk to contemporary hard rock, with programming designed to span different generations and styles.
