Gli HELLOWEEN tornano protagonisti della scena heavy metal internazionale con “Giants & Monsters”, il nuovo album in studio pubblicato il 29 agosto 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music. Il disco rappresenta il secondo capitolo discografico della formazione allargata nata con il progetto “Pumpkins United”, che ha riunito in un’unica lineup alcune delle figure più importanti della storia della band tedesca.
Nati ad Amburgo nel 1984, gli HELLOWEEN sono considerati tra i principali artefici della nascita e della diffusione del power metal europeo. Nel corso di oltre quattro decenni hanno costruito una carriera costellata di album fondamentali, dai primi lavori fino alla celebre saga di Keeper Of The Seven Keys, diventando una delle formazioni più influenti e riconoscibili del metal internazionale.
L’attuale lineup riunisce Michael Kiske e Andi Deris alla voce, Kai Hansen e Michael Weikath alle chitarre, Sascha Gerstner alla chitarra, Markus Grosskopf al basso e Dani Löble alla batteria. È proprio questa formazione a sette elementi ad aver dato vita prima all’album Helloween del 2021 e ora a Giants & Monsters.
Il nuovo lavoro comprende dieci brani e attraversa diverse sfumature del sound della band, alternando velocità, melodie, atmosfere epiche e momenti più articolati. Tra i brani spiccano “Giants On The Run”, “Saviour Of The World”, “This Is Tokyo”, “Universe (Gravity For Hearts)” e “Majestic”. Quest’ultima e “Universe (Gravity For Hearts)” superano gli otto minuti, confermando la volontà degli HELLOWEEN di lasciare spazio anche a composizioni ampie e ambiziose.
Particolarmente significativa è “Universe (Gravity For Hearts)”, un brano di oltre otto minuti scritto da Sascha Gerstner, caratterizzato da un’impronta cinematica, passaggi di grande intensità e un ruolo centrale della voce di Michael Kiske. Il pezzo rappresenta bene la capacità degli HELLOWEEN di combinare la tradizione del power metal con una produzione moderna e un approccio più dinamico alla composizione.
Rispetto al precedente Helloween, la band ha descritto Giants & Monsters come un album più focalizzato e diretto, frutto di una maggiore sintonia tra i sette musicisti. La fase di scrittura e produzione ha permesso ai componenti di intervenire maggiormente sulle idee degli altri, creando un lavoro nel quale le diverse personalità compositive convivono in maniera più naturale.
La produzione è stata affidata a Charlie Bauerfeind e Dennis Ward, mentre il disco è stato mixato ai prestigiosi Wisseloord Studios di Hilversum, nei Paesi Bassi. Anche la cura dei dettagli in studio ha avuto un ruolo importante: il batterista Dani Löble ha utilizzato tre diversi kit di batteria durante le registrazioni, alla ricerca del suono più adatto alle singole canzoni.
Con Giants & Monsters, gli HELLOWEEN confermano così la solidità della formazione “Pumpkins United” e aprono un nuovo capitolo della loro lunga storia. A più di quarant’anni dalla nascita della band, il gruppo continua a muoversi tra tradizione e rinnovamento, mantenendo intatta quella combinazione di potenza, melodia e grandi aperture epiche che ne ha definito il percorso nel metal.

HELLOWEEN, “GIANTS & MONSTERS” IS COMING: THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE “PUMPKINS UNITED” LINEUP
The German heavy metal titans HELLOWEEN return to the forefront of the international scene with Giants & Monsters, their new studio album released on 29 August 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music. The record marks the second chapter of the expanded lineup born from the “Pumpkins United” project, which brought together some of the most iconic figures in the band’s history.
Formed in Hamburg in 1984, HELLOWEEN are widely regarded as key architects in the creation and global rise of European power metal. Over more than four decades, they have built a career filled with landmark albums — from their early works to the legendary Keeper Of The Seven Keys saga — becoming one of the most influential and recognizable bands in the international metal landscape.
The current lineup features Michael Kiske and Andi Deris on vocals, Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath on guitars, Sascha Gerstner on guitar, Markus Grosskopf on bass, and Dani Löble on drums. This seven‑piece formation first gave life to the 2021 self‑titled album Helloween, and now to Giants & Monsters.
The new record includes ten tracks and explores multiple shades of the band’s sound, shifting between speed, melody, epic atmospheres, and more intricate moments. Standout songs include “Giants On The Run,” “Saviour Of The World,” “This Is Tokyo,” “Universe (Gravity For Hearts)” and “Majestic.” Both Majestic and Universe (Gravity For Hearts) exceed eight minutes, confirming HELLOWEEN’s intention to leave room for expansive and ambitious compositions.
Particularly noteworthy is “Universe (Gravity For Hearts)”, an eight‑minute piece written by Sascha Gerstner, marked by a cinematic imprint, intense passages, and a central role for Michael Kiske’s voice. The track showcases HELLOWEEN’s ability to blend traditional power metal with modern production and a more dynamic approach to songwriting.
Compared to the previous Helloween, the band has described Giants & Monsters as a more focused and direct album, the result of stronger chemistry among the seven musicians. The writing and production process allowed each member to contribute more deeply to the others’ ideas, creating a record where different compositional personalities coexist more naturally.
Production was handled by Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward, while the album was mixed at the prestigious Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, Netherlands. Studio detail played a significant role as well: drummer Dani Löble used three different drum kits during the recording sessions, searching for the perfect sound for each individual track.
With Giants & Monsters, HELLOWEEN reaffirm the strength of the Pumpkins United lineup and open a new chapter in their long history. More than forty years after their formation, the band continues to move between tradition and reinvention, preserving the powerful blend of energy, melody, and epic grandeur that has defined their journey through the world of metal.
