Una notizia destinata a far battere il cuore di milioni di appassionati di rock: Ritchie Blackmore è tornato sul palco con i Deep Purple, a oltre trent’anni dall’ultima esibizione insieme. Un ritorno dal fortissimo valore simbolico, destinato a riaccendere i ricordi di una delle formazioni più importanti e influenti della storia dell’hard rock.
Il chitarrista britannico, nato nel 1945, è stato uno dei fondatori dei Deep Purple nel 1968 e ha contribuito in maniera decisiva a costruire il sound che avrebbe rivoluzionato il rock tra la fine degli anni Sessanta e gli anni Settanta. Con la sua inconfondibile Fender Stratocaster, Blackmore ha firmato alcuni dei riff e degli assoli più celebri della storia della musica, contribuendo a brani immortali come “Smoke on the Water”, “Highway Star”, “Child in Time” e “Black Night”.
Dopo aver lasciato la band nel 1975, Blackmore ha fondato i Rainbow, dando vita a un altro capitolo fondamentale della propria carriera e collaborando con musicisti straordinari, tra cui Ronnie James Dio. Nel 1984 è tornato nei Deep Purple per la celebre reunion della formazione classica, partecipando all’album Perfect Strangers e ai successivi lavori della band. Blackmore è salito sul palco dei Deep Purple per un’apparizione speciale, durante il concerto del 12 agosto 2026 al Northwell at Jones Beach Theater di Wantagh, nello Stato di New York. L’evento non ha rappresentato una reunion permanente: si è trattato di una partecipazione limitata al bis, ma il suo significato per i fan è stato enorme.
Sul palco, Blackmore ha ritrovato Ian Gillan, Roger Glover e Ian Paice, tre musicisti con cui ha condiviso alcuni dei momenti più importanti della storia dei Deep Purple. Con loro c'erano anche Don Airey alle tastiere e Simon McBride alla chitarra, l'attuale formazione della band.

RITCHIE BLACKMORE RETURNS TO DEEP PURPLE: THE STUNNING COMEBACK
A piece of news destined to make the hearts of millions of rock fans race: Ritchie Blackmore has returned to the stage with Deep Purple, more than thirty years after their last performance together.
A comeback with enormous symbolic weight, capable of reigniting memories of one of the most important and influential bands in hard‑rock history.
Born in 1945, the British guitarist was one of the founding members of Deep Purple in 1968 and played a decisive role in shaping the sound that revolutionized rock between the late Sixties and the Seventies. With his unmistakable Fender Stratocaster, Blackmore crafted some of the most iconic riffs and solos in music history, contributing to immortal tracks such as Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Child in Time and Black Night.
After leaving the band in 1975, Blackmore founded Rainbow, opening another crucial chapter in his career and collaborating with extraordinary musicians, including Ronnie James Dio. In 1984 he returned to Deep Purple for the celebrated reunion of the classic lineup, taking part in Perfect Strangers and the band’s subsequent albums. The relationship, however, broke down again, and in 1993 Blackmore left the group for good.
Since then, he has embarked on a completely different artistic path, focusing mainly on Blackmore’s Night, the project founded with his wife Candice Night and characterized by folk, Renaissance and medieval influences. A choice that once again showcased his versatility and his desire to explore musical territories far from the hard rock that made him famous.
Now, however, the past has knocked on the door. Blackmore stepped onto the Deep Purple stage for a special appearance during the 12 August 2026 concert at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York State. The event did not mark a permanent reunion: it was a brief participation limited to the encore, but its significance for fans was immense.
On stage, Blackmore reunited with Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice, three musicians with whom he shared some of the most important moments in Deep Purple’s history. Also present were Don Airey on keyboards and Simon McBride on guitar, the band’s current lineup.
