La Romagna ha vissuto una notte all’insegna del punk, del rock e delle sonorità celtiche. Mercoledì 12 agosto i Dropkick Murphys sono saliti sul palco del Beky Bay di Bellaria-Igea Marina, portando sulla costa adriatica tutta l’energia di una delle band più rappresentative della scena celtic punk internazionale. L’appuntamento faceva parte della rassegna Road to Bay Fest 2026 e ha visto la formazione di Boston accompagnata da Therapy? e Hot Water Music, con Still No One in programma tra gli ospiti.
Nati nell’area di Boston nel 1995, i Dropkick Murphys hanno costruito in oltre trent’anni una formula musicale immediatamente riconoscibile, capace di fondere punk rock, folk irlandese e tradizione celtica. Chitarre aggressive, cori da stadio, fisarmoniche e strumenti della tradizione popolare sono diventati gli elementi distintivi di una band che ha trasformato il celtic punk in un linguaggio capace di raggiungere un pubblico internazionale.
Il loro percorso discografico è iniziato con Do or Die, pubblicato nel 1998, e ha attraversato alcuni degli album più importanti della loro carriera, tra cui The Gang’s All Here, Sing Loud, Sing Proud!, Blackout e The Warrior’s Code. Proprio quest’ultimo, uscito nel 2005, contiene uno dei brani simbolo della band, “I’m Shipping Up to Boston”, diventato nel tempo un autentico inno del gruppo e uno dei pezzi più riconoscibili del punk rock degli ultimi decenni.
La forza dei Dropkick Murphys, però, emerge soprattutto dal vivo. I loro concerti sono celebri per l’impatto fisico, i cori collettivi e il rapporto diretto con il pubblico: una miscela di energia punk e spirito da festa popolare che rende ogni esibizione un’esperienza particolarmente coinvolgente. Non è un caso che la band abbia costruito una solida tradizione di concerti legati anche alle celebrazioni di San Patrizio, appuntamenti diventati un elemento importante della loro identità live.
La tappa romagnola è arrivata inoltre in un momento particolarmente significativo per il gruppo. Nel 2025 i Dropkick Murphys hanno pubblicato For The People, il loro album più recente, seguito da una versione expanded e da nuova attività live. Il disco ha confermato la volontà della band di mantenere intatta quella combinazione di punk, folk e impegno sociale che da sempre caratterizza la loro produzione.
Ad accogliere la band è stato il Beky Bay di Bellaria-Igea Marina, una location sulla spiaggia diventata negli ultimi anni uno dei punti di riferimento per la musica punk e rock sulla Riviera Romagnola. Beky Bay La serata dei Dropkick Murphys si è inserita in un calendario 2026 particolarmente ricco, che ha portato sul palco artisti internazionali come Rise Against, The Get Up Kids, Less Than Jake e, appunto, i Dropkick Murphys.
Per il pubblico italiano, quella del 12 agosto è stata quindi molto più di una semplice data estiva. È stata una nuova occasione per incontrare dal vivo una band che, partendo dalla scena underground di Boston, è riuscita a trasformare la propria identità musicale in un fenomeno internazionale, senza perdere il legame con le proprie radici.
Tra punk, melodie folk, cori e ritmi trascinanti, i Dropkick Murphys hanno portato sulla spiaggia romagnola quella miscela di energia e passione che da sempre rappresenta il loro marchio di fabbrica. Una serata che ha unito il pubblico della Riviera agli appassionati arrivati per uno degli appuntamenti più attesi dell’estate rock italiana.
E quando il punk incontra il mare, la tradizione celtica e l’inconfondibile energia dei Dropkick Murphys, il risultato non può che essere una grande festa. La Romagna, ancora una volta, ha risposto presente.

Romagna experienced a night of punk, rock and Celtic‑inspired energy. On Wednesday, 12 August, Dropkick Murphys took the stage at Beky Bay in Bellaria‑Igea Marina, bringing all the power of one of the most iconic bands in the international Celtic punk scene to the Adriatic coast.
The event was part of Road to Bay Fest 2026 and saw the Boston band joined by Therapy?, Hot Water Music, with Still No One also scheduled among the guests.
Formed in the Boston area in 1995, Dropkick Murphys have spent more than thirty years crafting an instantly recognizable musical formula, blending punk rock, Irish folk and Celtic tradition. Aggressive guitars, chant‑like choruses, accordions and traditional instruments have become the hallmarks of a band that transformed Celtic punk into a language capable of reaching audiences worldwide.
Their discography began with Do or Die in 1998 and continued through some of the most important albums of their career, including The Gang’s All Here, Sing Loud, Sing Proud!, Blackout and The Warrior’s Code. The latter, released in 2005, features one of the band’s signature tracks, I’m Shipping Up to Boston, which has become an anthem over the years and one of the most recognizable punk rock songs of recent decades.
But the true strength of Dropkick Murphys emerges on stage. The Dropkick Murphys show was part of a rich 2026 calendar that brought international artists such as Rise Against, The Get Up Kids, Less Than Jake and, indeed, Dropkick Murphys to the stage.
For Italian fans, the 12 August concert was far more than a simple summer date. It was a new opportunity to experience live a band that, starting from Boston’s underground scene, managed to turn its musical identity into an international phenomenon without losing its connection to its roots.
