I Robot nasce come concept album ispirato all’universo narrativo di Isaac Asimov. Sebbene il titolo sia stato modificato per ragioni legali (la virgola è stata rimossa per evitare conflitti di copyright), l’essenza dell’opera rimane saldamente ancorata alla riflessione sull’intelligenza artificiale, sull’autonomia delle macchine e sul rapporto tra uomo e tecnologia. Alan Parsons ed Eric Woolfson, fondatori del Project, hanno costruito un viaggio sonoro che fonde rock progressivo, elettronica e orchestrazioni sinfoniche, con arrangiamenti curati da Andrew Powell.

Lenny Zakatek, alla sua prima collaborazione con il Project, diventerà una voce ricorrente nei successivi album.
