Pubblicato originariamente il 1° giugno 1977 da Arista Records, questo disco torna oggi sotto i riflettori grazie a una sontuosa ristampa che ne celebra il 35° anniversario con una Legacy Edition curata nei minimi dettagli.
I Robot nasce come concept album liberamente ispirato alle tematiche di Isaac Asimov sull’intelligenza artificiale e il rapporto uomo-macchina. Inizialmente pensato come adattamento del libro I, Robot, il progetto fu rielaborato e il titolo modificato per ragioni legali, poiché i diritti dell’opera erano già stati concessi per altri scopi. Pur senza riferimenti diretti alla trama di Asimov, l’essenza rimane ancorata alla riflessione sul futuro tecnologico. Alan Parsons ed Eric Woolfson, fondatori del Project, hanno costruito un viaggio sonoro che fonde rock progressivo, elettronica e orchestrazioni sinfoniche, con arrangiamenti curati da Andrew Powell.
La ristampa I Robot: Legacy Edition si compone di due dischi:

Lenny Zakatek, alla sua prima collaborazione con il Project, diventerà una delle voci ricorrenti in diversi album successivi.
Il disco ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti internazionali, tra cui dischi d’oro e di platino negli Stati Uniti, Canada, Germania e Spagna, confermando il suo impatto duraturo nel tempo.
Questa ristampa precede la pubblicazione della Alan Parsons Project Complete Album Collection (2014), che includerà i dieci album originali del gruppo e The Sicilian Defence, un progetto rimasto inedito per oltre trent’anni. THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT: New I Robot Reissue
In the realm of progressive and art rock, few albums have managed to combine futuristic vision, sonic sophistication, and conceptual depth like I Robot, the second studio work by the legendary Alan Parsons Project. Originally released on June 1, 1977, by Arista Records, this album now returns to the spotlight thanks to a lavish reissue celebrating its 35th anniversary with a meticulously curated Legacy Edition.
I Robot was conceived as a concept album loosely inspired by Isaac Asimov’s themes of artificial intelligence and the relationship between man and machine. Initially planned as an adaptation of the book I, Robot, the project was reworked and its title modified for legal reasons, as the rights to the work had already been granted for other purposes.
