METALLICA, “DEVIL’S DANCE” RETURNS TO THE STAGE AFTER 18 YEARS!

The California metal giants delivered one of the biggest surprises of their Sphere Las Vegas residency by bringing back one of the darkest and most beloved tracks from Reload. “Devil's Dance” had not been performed live since 2008.

Metallica continue to make history at the Sphere in Las Vegas. During the second show of their "Life Burns Faster" residency, held on Saturday, October 3, the band treated fans to a long-awaited surprise as “Devil's Dance” returned to the stage after an 18-year absence.

Originally released on Reload in 1997, Devil's Dance remains one of the deepest cuts in the Metallica catalogue and one of the least frequently performed songs from the band's live repertoire. Its last performance dated back to June 7, 2008, making its return at the Sphere one of the standout moments of the evening.

The choice was no coincidence. The second concert of the residency followed the band's "No Repeat Weekend" format, featuring a completely different setlist from the opening night on October 1. No songs were repeated between the two shows, giving fans who attended both performances the opportunity to experience two entirely unique concerts.

And “Devil's Dance” was not the only surprise of the night. Metallica also dusted off “The Outlaw Torn”, performing it live for the first time since 2019. The setlist also included classics such as “Blackened,” “Fuel,” “Welcome Home (Sanitarium),” “The Unforgiven,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “One,” and “Enter Sandman.”

The opening of the show was particularly noteworthy as well. “Blackened,” from ...And Justice for All, opened a Metallica concert for the first time since 2014.

The "Life Burns Faster" residency is bringing Metallica's live experience into one of the world's most spectacular entertainment venues, taking full advantage of the Sphere's groundbreaking audiovisual capabilities while embracing a format designed to make every night different from the last.

Still, the return of “Devil's Dance” remains the defining moment of the second performance. After 18 years away from the stage, one of the darkest gems of the Load/Reload era has finally stepped back into the spotlight. And at the Sphere, it made an even greater impact.
