Gli U2 hanno finalmente svelato la data di uscita di “Carnaval De Luz”, il nuovo album in studio che segna il ritorno della band con un disco di inediti dopo nove anni. Il sedicesimo album della carriera di Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton e Larry Mullen Jr. sarà pubblicato il 13 novembre 2026 per Island Records.
L'annuncio arriva in una settimana particolarmente significativa per la band, che si appresta a celebrare i 50 anni dalla propria formazione. Un traguardo storico che accompagna l'arrivo di un progetto concepito come una nuova tappa del percorso creativo degli U2.
“Carnaval De Luz” è prodotto da Jacknife Lee e comprende dodici brani che attraversano temi come spiritualità, amicizia, libertà e resistenza. Il disco riporta inoltre la band verso alcune delle atmosfere più sperimentali della propria produzione, senza rinunciare a una scrittura più diretta e melodica.
Tra le collaborazioni spiccano nomi importanti della scena musicale internazionale. Brian Eno partecipa alla scrittura e ai sintetizzatori di alcuni brani, Martin Garrix firma insieme alla band “Glorify”, mentre Daniel Lanois interviene con la pedal steel in “Torn”. La produzione aggiuntiva di “Silencio” è invece affidata a Ryan Tedder.
Ad anticipare l'album è arrivato “Street Of Dreams”, pubblicato a luglio. Il 24 settembre, gli U2 hanno inoltre pubblicato “Silencio”, secondo brano estratto dal progetto, accompagnandolo con un videoclip girato a Città del Messico e diretto dal duo Cliqua.
Particolarmente significativa è la presenza di Dolly Parton in “Torn”, brano scritto dagli U2 insieme alla stessa Parton e a Johnny McDaid. La canzone, che chiude la tracklist dell'edizione standard, è descritta dalla band come un brano dalle atmosfere country e rappresenta l'ultima performance vocale registrata da Parton.
“Carnaval De Luz” nasce inoltre nello stesso periodo creativo dei due EP pubblicati a sorpresa dagli U2 all'inizio del 2026, “Days of Ash” ed “Easter Lily”. Il nuovo album si inserisce quindi all'interno di un anno particolarmente prolifico per la band, che nel 2026 celebra mezzo secolo di storia.
Con dodici nuove canzoni, importanti collaborazioni e un ritorno alle atmosfere più sperimentali, “Carnaval De Luz” rappresenta uno degli appuntamenti discografici più attesi dell'autunno rock.

U2, IT’S OFFICIAL: HERE’S WHEN “CARNAVAL DE LUZ” ARRIVES
U2 have finally revealed the release date of Carnaval De Luz, the new studio album that marks the band’s return with a full set of original material after nine years. The sixteenth album by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will be released on 13 November 2026 via Island Records.
The announcement arrives during a particularly meaningful week for the band, as they prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their formation — a historic milestone that accompanies the arrival of a project conceived as a new chapter in U2’s creative journey.
Carnaval De Luz is produced by Jacknife Lee and features twelve tracks exploring themes such as spirituality, friendship, freedom and resistance. The album also brings the band back toward some of the more experimental atmospheres of their past work, while maintaining a more direct and melodic songwriting approach.
The record includes major collaborations with prominent figures from the international music scene. Brian Eno contributes to the writing and synthesizers on several tracks; Martin Garrix co-wrote Glorify with the band; and Daniel Lanois appears with pedal steel on Torn. Additional production on Silencio is handled by Ryan Tedder.
The album is preceded by Street Of Dreams, released in July. On 24 September, U2 also unveiled Silencio, the second track from the project, accompanied by a music video shot in Mexico City and directed by the duo Cliqua.
One of the most significant collaborations is the presence of Dolly Parton on Torn, a song written by U2 together with Parton and Johnny McDaid. The track, which closes the standard edition’s tracklist, is described by the band as a country‑tinged piece and represents Parton’s final recorded vocal performance.
Carnaval De Luz was conceived during the same creative period as the two surprise EPs released by U2 earlier in 2026, Days of Ash and Easter Lily. The new album therefore fits into an exceptionally prolific year for the band, who in 2026 celebrate half a century of history.
With twelve new songs, major collaborations and a return to more experimental soundscapes, Carnaval De Luz stands as one of the most anticipated rock releases of the autumn season.
Carnaval De Luz will be available from 13 November 2026.
