I Fontaines D.C. hanno conquistato il pubblico del Reading Festival 2026 con un live intenso, potente e profondamente emozionante. La band irlandese si è esibita venerdì 28 agosto sul palco principale, The Grid, a Richfield Avenue, Reading, nell'ambito della storica manifestazione britannica in programma dal 27 al 30 agosto.
Nati a Dublino nel 2014, i Fontaines D.C. sono oggi una delle realtà più importanti del rock alternativo internazionale. La formazione è composta da Grian Chatten alla voce, Carlos O'Connell e Conor Curley alle chitarre, Conor Deegan III al basso e Tom Coll alla batteria. Il loro percorso è iniziato nel 2019 con Dogrel, seguito da album come A Hero's Death, Skinty Fia e Romance, lavori che hanno progressivamente ampliato il loro sound, partendo dal post-punk per arrivare a una dimensione più ampia e personale.
Sul palco di Reading, la band ha ripercorso alcuni dei momenti più importanti della propria carriera con brani come “Boys in the Better Land”, “Jackie Down the Line”, “I Love You”, “Roman Holiday”, “Favourite” e “Starburster”. Nel set è comparsa anche “Marianne”, brano che anticipa il prossimo capitolo discografico del gruppo.
La serata ha avuto però anche un forte valore emotivo. I Fontaines D.C. hanno ricordato Trevor Dietz, il loro storico manager, scomparso lo scorso giugno. Dietz aveva accompagnato la band fin dagli esordi, contribuendo in maniera decisiva alla sua crescita internazionale. Il suo ricordo ha aggiunto una dimensione particolarmente personale a una performance già carica di tensione ed energia.
Il Reading Festival, uno degli appuntamenti storici della musica dal vivo britannica, ha riunito anche quest'anno artisti provenienti da rock, alternative, pop, hip-hop ed elettronica. L'edizione 2026 vede tra i protagonisti nomi come Charli XCX, Dave, Florence + The Machine, RAYE e Chase & Status, confermando la vocazione trasversale della manifestazione.
Per i Fontaines D.C., il concerto di Reading rappresenta un'ulteriore conferma della loro dimensione internazionale e della capacità di trasformare un grande palco in uno spazio carico di energia ed emozione. Una performance che guarda al futuro, con il nuovo album Dopamine Chamber all'orizzonte, ma che allo stesso tempo rende omaggio alle persone fondamentali per la storia della band.

Fontaines D.C. captivated the crowd at the 2026 Reading Festival with an intense, powerful and deeply emotional live performance. The Irish band took to the main stage, The Grid, on Friday, 28 August at Richfield Avenue, Reading, as part of the historic British festival running from 27 to 30 August.
Formed in Dublin in 2014, Fontaines D.C. have become one of the most significant acts in contemporary alternative rock. The lineup features Grian Chatten on vocals, Carlos O’Connell and Conor Curley on guitars, Conor Deegan III on bass and Tom Coll on drums. Their journey began in 2019 with Dogrel, followed by A Hero’s Death, Skinty Fia and Romance — albums that progressively expanded their sound, evolving from post‑punk roots into a broader, more personal musical identity.
On the Reading stage, the band revisited some of the most defining moments of their career with tracks such as “Boys in the Better Land,” “Jackie Down the Line,” “I Love You,” “Roman Holiday,” “Favourite” and “Starburster.” The set also included “Marianne,” a song that offers a glimpse into the band’s upcoming chapter.
