I Journey si preparano a quello che potrebbe essere l'ultimo grande viaggio della loro straordinaria carriera. La storica band americana è impegnata nel Final Frontier Tour, una tournée che potrebbe rappresentare il capitolo conclusivo della formazione attuale.
Il tour, iniziato il 28 febbraio 2026 a Hershey, in Pennsylvania, riprenderà il 5 settembre a Honolulu, per poi attraversare Stati Uniti e Canada. La conclusione è prevista il 28 novembre 2026 al Chase Center di San Francisco, città simbolo nella storia della band.
Ma sarà davvero la fine?
Non è ancora possibile dirlo con certezza. Il chitarrista e cofondatore Neal Schon ha lasciato aperta la possibilità di continuare a fare musica anche dopo il tour, mentre il futuro dei Journey rimane volutamente incerto. Per questo il Final Frontier Tour potrebbe essere l'ultimo tour della formazione attuale, senza necessariamente segnare la fine definitiva della band.
La storia dei Journey comincia nel 1973, nella Bay Area californiana, proprio con Neal Schon. Nei primi anni il gruppo propone un rock più vicino al progressive e al jazz-rock, prima di trovare la propria formula vincente.
La svolta arriva nel 1977, con l'ingresso di Steve Perry. La sua voce diventa uno degli elementi distintivi del gruppo e accompagna la band verso il periodo di massimo successo.
Nel 1981 arriva “Escape”, l'album che consacra definitivamente i Journey. Al suo interno ci sono brani come “Open Arms”, “Who's Crying Now”, “Stone in Love” e soprattutto “Don't Stop Believin'”, destinata a diventare uno degli inni più celebri della storia del rock.
Negli anni successivi la band attraversa diversi cambi di formazione, ma continua a portare il proprio repertorio sui palchi internazionali. Dal 2007, la voce dei Journey è quella di Arnel Pineda, scoperto da Neal Schon attraverso alcuni video online. Pineda è riuscito a raccogliere la difficile eredità di Steve Perry, diventando una presenza fondamentale nella storia recente del gruppo.
La formazione attuale comprende Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Arnel Pineda, Deen Castronovo, Jason Derlatka e Todd Jensen.
Durante il Final Frontier Tour il pubblico può ancora ascoltare alcuni dei grandi classici della band, da “Lights” a “Faithfully”, da “Separate Ways” a “Any Way You Want It”, fino all'immancabile “Don't Stop Believin'”.
Il concerto del 28 novembre a San Francisco avrà quindi un significato particolarmente importante. Sarà il finale ufficiale del tour e potrebbe diventare anche l'ultima grande esibizione dei Journey.
Non è esclusa, inoltre, la possibilità di qualche sorpresa o di eventuali ospiti, anche se al momento non ci sono conferme ufficiali su una possibile reunion con ex componenti della band.
Dopo oltre cinquant'anni di carriera, milioni di dischi venduti e canzoni diventate patrimonio del rock, i Journey si trovano davanti a una domanda inevitabile: è davvero arrivato il momento di fermarsi?
La risposta arriverà, forse, proprio a San Francisco.

Journey, Is This Really the Last Journey? The Band Prepares for a Tour That Could Be Their Farewell
Journey are preparing for what could be the last great voyage of their extraordinary career. The legendary American band is currently on the Final Frontier Tour, a run that might represent the closing chapter for the current lineup.
The tour, which began on February 28, 2026 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, will resume on September 5 in Honolulu before moving across the United States and Canada. The final show is scheduled for November 28, 2026 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, a city that has played a symbolic role in the band’s history.
But is this really the end?
It’s still impossible to say for sure. Guitarist and co‑founder Neal Schon has left the door open to making music even after the tour, while the future of Journey remains intentionally uncertain. For this reason, the Final Frontier Tour could be the last tour for the current lineup, without necessarily marking the definitive end of the band.

The answer may arrive — perhaps — in San Francisco.
