I Mastodon tornano con nuova musica e pubblicano “In The Ruins”, il terzo singolo che anticipa Marrow Deep, il nuovo album in studio della band statunitense, atteso per il 28 agosto 2026 via Loma Vista Recordings. Il brano è disponibile dal 13 agosto 2026 e arriva accompagnato da un videoclip ufficiale animato, che ne amplifica la dimensione visiva e narrativa.
“In The Ruins” rappresenta un nuovo e importante tassello nel percorso di avvicinamento a Marrow Deep, il primo album dei Mastodon dopo Hushed and Grim del 2021. Il nuovo lavoro nasce in una fase particolarmente intensa per la band, segnata da profondi cambiamenti personali e artistici, e affronta temi come la perdita, il dolore, la distruzione e la capacità di trovare la forza per ricominciare.
Il brano è stato ispirato anche dall'esperienza vissuta dal bassista e cantante Troy Sanders in seguito all'uragano Helene, che provocò gravi danni alla sua abitazione e alla sua famiglia. Un'esperienza personale particolarmente difficile che si intreccia con il periodo di profondo dolore attraversato dai Mastodon dopo la scomparsa del chitarrista e membro fondatore Brent Hinds.
Il videoclip di “In The Ruins”, realizzato da Hey Beautiful Jerk, accompagna la canzone con immagini animate dal carattere surreale e post-apocalittico. Le atmosfere del video seguono il tema della distruzione e della rinascita, trasformando in immagini il viaggio emotivo raccontato dal brano e aggiungendo una forte componente cinematografica alla nuova pubblicazione.
“In The Ruins” arriva dopo “Your Ghost Again” e “Snakes For Dinner”, quest'ultimo realizzato con la partecipazione di Josh Homme, frontman dei Queens of the Stone Age. MASTODON, THE THIRD SINGLE FROM THE NEW ALBUM ARRIVES
The Mastodon return with new music and release “In The Ruins”, the third single anticipating Marrow Deep, the band’s new studio album, set for August 28, 2026 via Loma Vista Recordings. The track has been available since August 13, 2026 and arrives accompanied by an animated official video that enhances its visual and narrative dimension.
“In The Ruins” represents a new and significant step toward Marrow Deep, Mastodon’s first album since Hushed and Grim in 2021. The new work was born during an especially intense phase for the band, marked by profound personal and artistic changes, and explores themes such as loss, pain, destruction, and the ability to find strength to begin again.
The song was also inspired by bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders’ experience following Hurricane Helene, which caused severe damage to his home and family. A deeply difficult personal event that intertwines with the period of profound grief the band faced after the passing of guitarist and founding member Brent Hinds.
The video for “In The Ruins”, created by Hey Beautiful Jerk, accompanies the song with surreal, post‑apocalyptic animated imagery. The video’s atmosphere follows the theme of destruction and rebirth, transforming the emotional journey told in the track into visuals and adding a strong cinematic component to the new release.
