Lewis.

LED ZEPPELIN: “STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN” IN THE NARNIA TRAILER
One of the most legendary songs in rock history is making its way into the world of cinema through an exceptional licensing agreement. Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” features in the first official trailer for “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew”, the new film directed by Greta Gerwig and based on the literary universe created by C.S. Lewis. The trailer premiered on October 13, 2026, with news of the collaboration spreading internationally the following day.
Originally released in 1971 on “Led Zeppelin IV,” “Stairway to Heaven” is widely regarded as one of the British band's defining masterpieces. Its evocative atmosphere, gradual musical progression, and Jimmy Page’s unforgettable guitar solo have helped establish it as a timeless rock classic. In the trailer, the song is presented in a newly crafted cinematic arrangement that highlights Robert Plant’s vocals and Page’s guitar work.
The decision carries special significance because Led Zeppelin have historically been extremely selective when granting permission for their music to be used on screen. In the past, requests to feature “Stairway to Heaven” in films such as “Wayne’s World” (1992) and “Almost Famous” (2000) were declined. This time, however, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant approved the project after meeting director Greta Gerwig, who shared an early version of the film with them.
Gerwig explained that she saw a deep connection between the song and the story’s themes: a spiritual journey shaped by choices, discoveries, and unexpected paths. That narrative parallel ultimately convinced the musicians, allowing the iconic track to be used for the first time in an official movie trailer.
“Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” tells the origin story of the magical world of Narnia and is based on “The Magician’s Nephew,” the novel published by C.S. Lewis in 1955. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the film stars Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Emma Mackey, with Meryl Streep providing the voice of Aslan the lion.
The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 12, 2027, with IMAX preview screenings beginning on February 10. Its Netflix debut is set for April 2, 2027.
The meeting of Led Zeppelin’s masterpiece and the fantasy world of Narnia is a major event for both music and film fans. More than fifty years after its release, “Stairway to Heaven” continues to demonstrate its enduring power, reaching new audiences while reaffirming rock music’s lasting influence on contemporary culture.
