I Talking Heads tornano nuovamente insieme, anche se questa volta non per un concerto. David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz e Jerry Harrison si ritroveranno il 28 settembre a New York in occasione del lancio di Talking Heads Radio, il nuovo canale pop-up di SiriusXM interamente dedicato alla storia e alla musica della band.
I quattro componenti parteciperanno a uno speciale Q&A dal vivo davanti al pubblico, ospitato negli studi newyorkesi di SiriusXM e condotto da Este Haim, bassista e cantante degli Haim. L'incontro sarà trasmesso il 1° ottobre alle 12:00 ET, giorno del debutto ufficiale di Talking Heads Radio, e sarà successivamente disponibile anche sull'app SiriusXM.
Il nuovo canale celebrerà oltre cinquant'anni di musica dei Talking Heads, alternando i grandi classici della band a brani meno conosciuti, racconti e interventi dei quattro musicisti. Sono inoltre previsti DJ set e contributi di diversi artisti, tra cui Adam Clayton degli U2, Nate Mendel dei Foo Fighters, Trey Anastasio e The Linda Lindas.
Talking Heads Radio sarà disponibile in auto sul canale 145 dal 1° al 22 ottobre, mentre sull'app SiriusXM resterà attivo fino al 31 ottobre.
La reunion assume un significato particolare perché i Talking Heads hanno mantenuto per anni una presenza pubblica molto limitata come gruppo. I quattro musicisti erano già tornati insieme nel 2023, in occasione del Toronto International Film Festival, per celebrare il quarantesimo anniversario di Stop Making Sense, lo storico film-concerto diretto da Jonathan Demme.
Quella celebrazione aveva riportato sotto i riflettori una delle formazioni più originali e influenti della scena new wave e post-punk americana. Il film, registrato durante il tour del 1983-84, documentò una delle fasi artisticamente più importanti della carriera della band e contribuì a consolidarne il ruolo nella storia della musica dal vivo.
La nuova iniziativa di SiriusXM permetterà inoltre di riscoprire l'intero percorso artistico dei Talking Heads, dagli esordi newyorkesi alla progressiva evoluzione verso sonorità più funk, world music e sperimentali. Un viaggio attraverso un repertorio che continua a influenzare musicisti di generazioni molto diverse.
Per i fan, l'aspetto più significativo resta comunque la possibilità di vedere ancora una volta Byrne, Weymouth, Frantz e Harrison riuniti nello stesso luogo. Non si tratta di un annuncio di concerti o di un nuovo tour, ma di un'occasione speciale per ascoltare direttamente dai protagonisti ricordi, aneddoti e riflessioni sulla storia di una band che ha lasciato un'impronta profonda nel rock contemporaneo.
Per ora, quindi, nessun ritorno stabile sulle scene: la musica dei Talking Heads torna però al centro dell'attenzione, accompagnata dalle voci dei suoi quattro protagonisti. TALKING HEADS, NEW REUNION FOR SIRIUSXM
The Talking Heads are coming together once again — though this time, not for a concert. David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison will reunite in New York on 28 September for the launch of Talking Heads Radio, a new SiriusXM pop‑up channel entirely dedicated to the band’s history and music.
The four members will take part in a special live Q&A in front of an audience, hosted at SiriusXM’s New York studios and moderated by Este Haim, bassist and vocalist of Haim. The event will air on 1 October at 12:00 ET, the official debut day of Talking Heads Radio, and will later be available on the SiriusXM app.
The new channel will celebrate more than fifty years of Talking Heads music, mixing the band’s biggest classics with deeper cuts, stories and commentary from the four musicians. DJ sets and contributions from various artists are also planned, including Adam Clayton of U2, Nate Mendel of Foo Fighters, Trey Anastasio and The Linda Lindas.
Talking Heads Radio will be available in cars on channel 145 from 1 to 22 October, while on the SiriusXM app it will remain active until 31 October.
The reunion carries particular significance, as the Talking Heads have maintained a very limited public presence as a group for many years. The four musicians had already come together in 2023 at the Toronto International Film Festival to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Stop Making Sense, the iconic concert film directed by Jonathan Demme.

This is not an announcement of concerts or a new tour, but a special opportunity to hear directly from the band members as they share memories, anecdotes and reflections on the story of a group that left a deep mark on contemporary rock.
For now, there is no stable return to the stage — but the music of Talking Heads is back in the spotlight, accompanied by the voices of its four protagonists. And for a band known for rationing their appearances together, even a simple conversation becomes a highly anticipated event.
