I Tears for Fears si preparano a tornare sul palco e, soprattutto, a guardare nuovamente al futuro. Roland Orzabal ha confermato che la band ha già in programma alcuni concerti nel 2027, con una prima finestra prevista tra giugno, luglio e agosto. Al momento, però, non sono ancora state comunicate le date ufficiali, le città o le location del tour.
La notizia arriva a pochi anni dall'ultimo grande capitolo discografico della band, “The Tipping Point”, pubblicato il 25 febbraio 2022. L'album ha segnato il ritorno di Roland Orzabal e Curt Smith con un vero disco di inediti dopo una lunga attesa, confermando la capacità dei Tears for Fears di mantenere il proprio stile senza limitarsi a vivere di nostalgia.
Nati a Bath, in Inghilterra, nel 1981, i Tears for Fears hanno costruito una delle carriere più importanti della musica britannica. Il successo è esploso negli anni Ottanta grazie ad album come “The Hurting”, pubblicato nel 1983, e soprattutto “Songs from the Big Chair” del 1985, uno dei dischi simbolo di quel decennio, capace di regalare alla band brani indimenticabili come “Shout”, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” e “Head Over Heels”.
Dopo “The Seeds of Love” del 1989, Orzabal e Smith hanno attraversato una lunga separazione artistica, prima di ritrovarsi e riprendere il percorso insieme. Nel 2004 è arrivato “Everybody Loves a Happy Ending”, seguito molti anni dopo da “The Tipping Point”, che ha rappresentato una nuova importante fase della loro storia.
Ora, però, la novità riguarda soprattutto il futuro. Roland Orzabal ha rivelato di aver registrato nove nuove canzoni nel corso del 2026 e di voler tornare a lavorare su questo materiale nel prossimo novembre, quando sarà nuovamente a Los Angeles.
Questo significa che un nuovo album non è soltanto un'ipotesi: esiste già materiale inedito sul quale Orzabal sta lavorando. Tuttavia, è importante sottolineare che al momento non è stata annunciata né una data ufficiale di pubblicazione né il titolo del prossimo disco. Lo stesso Orzabal ha lasciato intendere di non voler forzare i tempi del progetto.
La priorità sembra quindi essere il ritorno dal vivo. I concerti del 2027 rappresenteranno il primo vero appuntamento importante con il pubblico dopo una fase relativamente tranquilla sul fronte live. Nel 2025 la band aveva infatti concentrato la propria attività soprattutto sulla residency a Las Vegas, mentre per il 2026 non risultavano concerti ufficiali nel calendario della formazione.
Per i fan italiani, al momento, non risultano date ufficialmente annunciate in Italia. Bisognerà attendere l'annuncio completo del tour per scoprire se Roland Orzabal e Curt Smith torneranno anche nel nostro Paese.
La prospettiva, dunque, è particolarmente interessante: prima un nuovo ciclo di concerti nell'estate 2027 e poi, con ogni probabilità, un nuovo capitolo discografico.
A oltre quarant'anni dalla nascita della band, i Tears for Fears dimostrano ancora una volta di non voler vivere esclusivamente del proprio passato. Le nuove canzoni già registrate e i progetti live per il 2027 indicano che la storia del duo britannico è tutt'altro che conclusa.
Per ora non resta che attendere gli annunci ufficiali. Ma una cosa è certa: il ritorno dei Tears for Fears è ormai concretamente all'orizzonte.

Tears for Fears, The Comeback Is Near: First the Tour, Then a New Album
Tears for Fears are getting ready to return to the stage and, more importantly, to look toward the future once again. Roland Orzabal has confirmed that the band already has several concerts planned for 2027, with an initial window expected between June, July and August. However, no official dates, cities or venues have been announced yet.
The news arrives just a few years after the band’s latest major studio chapter, The Tipping Point, released on 25 February 2022. The album marked the return of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith with a full set of new songs after a long wait, proving once again that Tears for Fears can maintain their identity without relying solely on nostalgia.
Formed in Bath, England, in 1981, Tears for Fears built one of the most significant careers in British music. Their success exploded in the 1980s thanks to albums like The Hurting (1983) and, above all, Songs from the Big Chair (1985), one of the decade’s defining records, which gave the band timeless tracks such as Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Head Over Heels.
After The Seeds of Love in 1989, Orzabal and Smith went through a long artistic separation before reuniting and resuming their journey together. In 2004 they released Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, followed many years later by The Tipping Point, which marked an important new phase in their story.
Now, however, the real news concerns the future. Roland Orzabal revealed that he recorded nine new songs during 2026 and plans to return to working on this material next November, when he will be back in Los Angeles.
This means that a new album is not just a possibility: there is already unreleased material Orzabal is developing. Still, it is important to note that no official release date or album title has been announced. Orzabal himself hinted that he does not want to rush the project.
For now, the priority seems to be the live comeback. The 2027 concerts will represent the band’s first major engagement with audiences after a relatively quiet period on the touring front. In 2025, the band focused mainly on their Las Vegas residency, while no official concerts were scheduled for 2026.
As for Italian fans, no dates have been announced in Italy at this time. We will have to wait for the full tour announcement to find out whether Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith will return to the country.
The outlook is therefore particularly exciting: first a new cycle of concerts in summer 2027 and then, very likely, a new studio chapter.
More than forty years after their formation, Tears for Fears continue to prove they have no intention of living solely off their past. The newly recorded songs and the live plans for 2027 show that the story of the British duo is far from over.
For now, all that remains is to wait for the official announcements. But one thing is certain: the return of Tears for Fears is clearly on the horizon.
