Gli Skunk Anansie sono pronti a tornare con un nuovo album, The Painful Truth, in uscita il 23 maggio 2025. Questo settimo lavoro di studio arriva a ben nove anni di distanza dal precedente *Anarchytecture* e rappresenta un momento cruciale per la band britannica, che ha attraversato un periodo di profonde riflessioni e cambiamenti.
La frontwoman Skin, insieme ai membri storici Ace (chitarra), Cass (basso) e Mark (batteria), ha raccontato come la band abbia vissuto momenti di grande incertezza negli ultimi anni. La pandemia, la genitorialità, problemi di salute e il ritiro del loro storico manager hanno messo alla prova la loro identità artistica e personale. Tuttavia, invece di arrendersi, gli Skunk Anansie hanno deciso di canalizzare queste esperienze nella loro musica, dando vita a un album che promette di essere potente, emotivo e provocatorio.
Prodotto da David Sitek dei TV On The Radio, *The Painful Truth* è stato concepito in un ritiro nella campagna del Devon, dove la band ha potuto concentrarsi senza distrazioni. Il disco è anticipato da quattro singoli:
- "An Artist Is An Artist", un brano punk con influenze new wave e un assolo di sax.
- "Cheers", caratterizzato da un groove rabbioso.

SKUNK ANANSIE: NEW ALBUM ON THE WAY
Skunk Anansie are ready to return with a new album, The Painful Truth, set for release on May 23, 2025.
This seventh studio effort comes a full nine years after their previous record, Anarchytecture, and marks a crucial moment for the British band, who have gone through a period of deep reflection and change.
Frontwoman Skin, together with longtime members Ace (guitar), Cass (bass), and Mark (drums), shared how the band faced a time of great uncertainty in recent years. The pandemic, parenthood, health issues, and the retirement of their longtime manager all challenged their artistic and personal identity. Yet rather than giving up, Skunk Anansie chose to channel these experiences into their music, creating an album that promises to be powerful, emotional, and provocative.
Produced by David Sitek of TV On The Radio, The Painful Truth was born during a retreat in the Devon countryside, where the band could focus without distractions. The album is preceded by four singles:

"An Artist Is An Artist", a punk track with new wave influences and a saxophone solo.
