I Metallica hanno ufficialmente acceso i motori della loro estate europea. La leggendaria band californiana ha inaugurato il segmento continentale del M72 World Tour 2026 il 9 maggio 2026 all'Olympic Stadium di Atene, in Grecia, dando il via a una serie di appuntamenti che porteranno James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett e Robert Trujillo nei principali stadi europei fino ai primi giorni di luglio.
L'avvio del tour è stato accolto con enorme entusiasmo dai fan. Proprio nelle ultime ore il gruppo ha pubblicato i primi video ufficiali registrati durante la serata inaugurale di Atene, mostrando dal vivo due classici come Creeping Death e King Nothing. Le immagini confermano una band in grande forma, capace di mantenere intatta la propria potenza scenica dopo oltre quattro decenni di carriera.
Il M72 World Tour continua a distinguersi per il celebre format "No Repeat Weekend", che prevede due concerti nella stessa città con scalette completamente differenti e artisti di supporto alternati. Il calendario comprende Bucarest (Romania) il 13 maggio, Chorzów (Polonia) il 19 maggio, Francoforte (Germania) il 22 e 24 maggio, Zurigo (Svizzera) il 27 maggio, Berlino (Germania) il 30 maggio e quindi l'attesissima tappa italiana di Bologna il 3 giugno 2026 allo Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.
Successivamente la tournée proseguirà con due concerti alla Puskás Aréna di Budapest, in Ungheria, l'11 e il 13 giugno, per poi raggiungere Dublino, in Irlanda, il 19 e 21 giugno. La parte finale del tour porterà i Metallica nel Regno Unito con gli show di Glasgow il 25 giugno all'Hampden Park, Cardiff il 28 giugno al Principality Stadium e infine il doppio appuntamento conclusivo del 3 e 5 luglio al London Stadium di Londra.
Ad accompagnare la band in diverse date europee saranno gruppi di primo piano della scena heavy e metal contemporanea, tra cui Pantera, Gojira, Avatar e Knocked Loose, contribuendo a rendere ogni evento un vero festival itinerante dedicato alla musica pesante.
Il tour continua a sostenere l'album 72 Seasons, pubblicato nel 2023, ma le scalette propongono anche numerosi classici provenienti da tutte le epoche della carriera del gruppo. Metallica have officially kicked off their European summer.
The legendary Californian band launched the continental leg of the M72 World Tour 2026 on May 9, 2026, at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, opening a series of shows that will take James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo to major European stadiums through early July.
The start of the tour was met with huge enthusiasm from fans. In the past few hours, the band released the first official videos from the opening night in Athens, showcasing live performances of two classics: Creeping Death and King Nothing. The footage confirms a band in top form, still capable of delivering their trademark power on stage after more than four decades of career.
The M72 World Tour continues to stand out for its signature “No Repeat Weekend” format, which features two concerts in the same city with completely different setlists and alternating support acts. A formula that has been hugely successful in recent years, allowing audiences to experience something unique each night.
After kicking off in Athens, the tour has crossed — and will continue to cross — some of Europe’s most important live‑music capitals. The schedule includes Bucharest (Romania) on May 13, Chorzów (Poland) on May 19, Frankfurt (Germany) on May 22 and 24, Zurich (Switzerland) on May 27, Berlin (Germany) on May 30, and then the highly anticipated Italian date in Bologna on June 3, 2026, at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

The final stretch will bring Metallica to the United Kingdom, with concerts in Glasgow on June 25 at Hampden Park, Cardiff on June 28 at Principality Stadium, and finally the closing double‑show on July 3 and 5 at London Stadium.
